Addis Ababa has now expanded terminals of the Bole International Airport, and Ethiopian Airlines inaugurated a huge five-star hotel complex near the Airport.
Now one of the biggest airport in Africa, Bole International Airport can host 22 million passengers annually from its current 7 million. With this, Addis Ababa is set to cement its place as Africa’s leading aviation hub, and Africa’s gateway hub. In 2018, Addis Ababa overtook Dubai as the leading transfer hub for long-haul travel to sub-Saharan Africa.
The newly inaugurated hotel is named Ethiopian Skylight Hotel, and is located just outside the Bole International Airport perimeter. It was built with an investment of 65 million USD, according to reports.
The hotel was built on a 40,000 square meter lot and has 373 rooms with 27 presidential and executive suites, four restaurants and a conference and banquet hall. It is expected to serve passengers during transits, stopovers and technical delays, and can hold up to 2,000 people at a time.
