Sibahle Zwane, The 10-Year-Old South African Human Calculator
10-year-old Sibahle Zwane who has amazed South Africa with his special talent of working huge numbers of math just from his head, is also using his gift to make money.
Dealing with numbers can be an onerous task for a lot of people, but for Sibahle Zwane, a grade 4 student from the city of Lehae, this is a simple task. Indeed, he’s able to can calculate large numbers just from his head, in a few seconds.
Here is a video of him working out complex sums, within seconds:
The young genius has proven to be a good businessman as well, as he has exploited his talent to make money for himself and his family. He goes around the Lehae neighbourhood near Lenasia making a quick buck from mesmerized strangers.
“Sibahle tells me he goes to the park, asks random strangers if they know their maths. And then he says ‘well ask me’. When they throw big numbers at him – whether to add, subtract, multiply – he gets the answer spot on.” (Mbali Zwane, mother of Sibahle Zwane).
“Sibahle Zwane charges R2 for every correct answer, sometimes bringing back home R100 [$6.92] or R200 [$13.84], which he then gives to his grandfather to keep for him”. (Mbali Zwane)
