Discovering Accountability Lab Nigeria with Country Director Odeh Friday

“In Africa, corruption not only saps our economic strength, it is killing us (Odeh Friday). However, many citizens fight to eradicate this phenomenon, but we rarely hear about them. We recently connected with Odeh Friday, Country Director of Accountability Lab Nigeria, through which we discovered a company which contributes to the good happenings around Africa.
What is accountability Lab ?
“The Accountability Lab supports change-makers to develop and implement positive ideas for integrity in their communities, unleashing positive social and economic change. They help building a new generation of active citizens and responsible leaders around the world.”

The company works with young people to find creative ways to build accountability and make them more responsible. The Lab uses arts, culture, media and technology. For example they run a TV show called Integrity Idol to find the most honest officials in the country:

“In 2017, Nuso Eziechi, a staff of Nigeria’s Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) was named the country’s first-ever Integrity Idol for her “honest, responsible and accountable” approach to work, and ensuring “standards are upheld despite the challenges”. She beat over 150 nominees from across Nigeria to clinch the award.” (Africannewspage)

Four other candidates were featured in the 2017 final. Here are their videos: Igbolo MagdaleneTubokenimi DavidOgumelen JustinaYemi Kale.

Accountability Lab is always looking for talented people who share their values, and are committed to positive change (pro bono Service, Accountability Ambassador, In-kind Donations, Guest Blogs…). If interested, contact them at info@accountabilitylab.org for additional information.
