Ghanaian music artist Sarkodie, born Michael Owusu Addo has taken the world by storm and is doing so in his native language, Twi. His dream of winning a Grammy award is one that his fans want to see come true.
Sarkodie also goes by the nick name “Rapper-holic,” because he is able to rap at what seems like the speed of lightning. His style is similar to the style of long time American rapper, Twister, where they rap as fast as they can, and get this… WE CAN UNDERSTAND THEM. Nonetheless, they make it look easier than it actually is.
Sarkodie’s success has been without question and his goal for a Grammy is one that most of us, if not all, stand behind. In 2017, he was named number 9 by FORBES “Top 10 Most Richest/Bankable Artists in Africa, having a net worth of $7 million. In 2012, Sarkodie was the first Ghanaian to win a BET award for Best International Act and had the most nominations.
His recent achievements include the release of his latest album “Highest,” the birth of his daugther Adalyn Owusu Addothe, and winner of the 2018 VGMA “Best Rapper of the Year.” It is definitely a stepping stone to the ultimate goal of a Grammy award.
Now we are just wondering how he’s going to make his dream of a Grammy a reality. My guess is that he’s going to have to have his music featured in a movie that has an amazing soundtrack, screenplay and actors and is well received around the world but specifically in the United States. It’s a dream that I believe is possible but it has to streamline with the agenda of American music. It may just be what has to happen for him to have his fairy-tale ending.
