Salah is the quickest Liverpool player to score premier league goals in Liverpool history.
He beat the likes of Michael Owen, Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez and other club Legends.
In the game that Mo Salah broke the record against Spurs, the Egyptian’s heroics appeared to have given Liverpool all three points before a late penalty by Harry Kane. By scoring twice on that day, Salah, 25, became the fastest ever Liverpool player to score 20 premier league goals in just 25 matches. Having scored in last week match day, Salah’s tally has now moved to 22 goals behind only Kane 23 goals in the race for the golden boot.
How he fares against past players
Prior to the match against Spurs, Fernando Torres and Daniel Sturridge both held the record after reaching 20 premier league goals in just 27 games. Following are Sturridge and Torres after 37 games. Micheal Owen who hit the ground running as a youngster at Liverpool, took 39 games to reach the milestones.
Amazingly, Stan Collymore edges Luis Suarez into sixth, having scored his 20th Premier League goal for Liverpool in 46 games, to the Uruguayan’s 50 outings.Ian Rush scored his 20th Premier league goal for the Reds after 55 games – later in his career – while Roberto Firmino reached the 20-goal marker after 61 games.
Completing the top ten for Liverpool, somewhat surprisingly, is Emile Heskey, who took 71 games to reach the 20-goal milestone at Anfield – a full 46 games behind Salah. Even the great Legend Didier Drogba who played for chelsea took him a total of 53 games to score his first 20 goals. Since the premier League was established, Salah now ranks fourth all-time for goals scored in the first 25 premier league matches for a club tied with Newcastle’s duo of Alan Shearer and Les Ferdinand. So far Salah is the signing of the season.
