A bicycle that rolls on water, an invention of Ghanaian entrepreneur Frank Darko
With 100 dollars (52,690 FCFA) investment, young Frank has designed a bicycle that rolls on water.
Made from cork, aluminum and small pieces of wood, his bicycle floats on water, and rides like an ordinary bicycle.
The source of his inspiration was a documentary that showed young children swim across a river to school. “I was inspired by watching a documentary on television showing children swimming across the river to school” (Frank Darko). This had marked him, and motivated him to invent a tool that could allow these children to have another means of travel.

Frank Darko revealed that his creativity was the result of his love for science, technology and the desire to solve everyday problems faced by people living in his community.
