The first “Made in Africa” phones come out of the factory

VMK, the first African brand to have launched mobile phones in Africa, is finally passing the high gear, now producing 70% of its production on African soil and not only in China.

Created by the young Congolese entrepreneur Verona Mankou, the first mobile phones "made in Congo" were released on Tuesday, July 22, 2015 from assembly workshops of the factory VMK in Brazzaville (Congo). At the moment, components such as screens, batteries and others are still difficult to produce locally, but the goal for Verona Mankou is that by next year 100% of the products are made in Congo.

Since July 13, the VMK plant, based in the Mpila district of Brazzaville (Congo), has welcomed about 100 local workers, including 80 on assembly lines and manufacturing, to design mobile phones ".

VMK offers Elikia S and XS mobile phones with high-performance keys. This new plant has a production capacity of 350,000 units per month.
