Senegalese public carrier Dakar Dem Dikk (DDD) has ordered 475 buses from the Indian Ashok Leyland for nearly 47 billion CFA francs (71.6 million euros). The order is financed, on the one hand, by Exim Bank India via the Senegalese State to 85% and on the other hand by the Regional Bank of Markets (BRM), one of the first investment banks of Senegal , Up to 15%. By the end of September 2015, all vehicles should be delivered.

400 buses will be destined for urban traffic while around 30 will be dedicated to inter-city links. This is the first time that vehicles of a public transport company will link the capital Dakar with the big cities inside the country. “Five pilot cities have already been chosen, namely Thiès, Kaolack, St-Louis, Touba and Tambacounda,” explains Mr. El Hadji Daniel So, DDD’s sales director.
