Since 1 July 2015, certain transactions can only be carried out by credit card or check in Algeria. The government wants to reduce the liquidity in circulation in the informal economy.

With the new decree, the payment threshold is set at 5 million dinars (50,000 euros) for the purchase of a property, 1 million dinars (10,000 euros) for the purchase of pleasure craft, equipment Rolling stock, industrial equipment, vehicles, precious metals, antiques and works of art and business services.
